How to make yourself poop without laxatives?

I know this is a weird question. But i've been constipated for the past 4 days and I feel like I have to go it just wont come out. Is there any certain foods I can eat to help me poop? I don't want to take laxatives.

I accidentally found a few things did it for me. Xylatol sugar gave me the runs big time as well as oregano oil capsules and these worked much better than prunes, which I love to eat. Besides that you can get natural remedies like magnesium citrate or senna. I like to throw some ground psyllium fiber in my breakfast to stay regular, you can try that too.

    Fibre is what keeps you regular and keeps your digestive system working properly - spinach, whole grains, apples, etc.

    I have the same problem, except it's all the time!

    I find that apple juice or a fiber supplement helps. Kellogg's has a product that's an all-bran packet that has 10g fiber in it. You mix it with a bottle of water and within an hour or two it always makes me go.

    Do you exercise? Sometimes lack of exercise causes constipation. When exercise alone didn't work, I did some ab exercises like crunches on an upward incline. I don't know why, but that worked too.

    If none of these work you should take a laxative just to get it out of your system. For future references, you should eat more fiber (whole wheat breads, fruits such as apples or grapefruits, and vegetables such as spinach) and drink more water with it. If your constipation still continues, see a doctor for it might not be your fault.

    The number one reason people get constipated is inadequate fluid intake. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, juice, etc.

    Add some roughage to your diet - fresh fruit and veggies. You can try prune juice too.

    You are absolutely right to avoid laxatives - they can cause a lot of problems. However, if increasing fluids and fiber doesn't help, you can try and over-the-counter medication called Colase. This is NOT a laxative, it is a stool softener that can make it easier to pass hard stools.
