We think my boyfriend may have irritable bowel syndrome :( Which foods are worst to eat?

by admin ·

It usually affects him in the mornings and we know its probably to do with the stuff he eats on the previous day… I was just wondering what foods are most likely to do him harm.

It's really hard to say, because everyone with IBS is different. What affects one person doesn't bother another, and vice-versa. Trial and error is really the only way you can find out. For example, if there are particular foods that he's sensitive to, those are the ones to avoid. Generally speaking, ibs patients should avoid roughage, such as seeds and nuts, raw fruits and vegetables, and too much coffee, tea or alcohol. But first of all, I'd suggest that he sees a doctor to determine if he really has IBS, or other ailments that are similar, and then go from there as far as dietary restrictions are concerned. Good luck!

I have IBS. Here is what I know.

There are 3 types: diarrhea only, constipation only, and both alternating. The last one is the trickiest. Regardless, try taking four Fibercon (or other brand) fiber capsules after every meal. Fruits and vegetables help. Before constipation gets too bad, if it happens, take a stool softener, but go easy on them and don't plan on leaving the house until he knows how they affect him.

If he is getting painful cramps, he should see a gastroenterologist, a doctor specializing in this stuff. Ask about a prescription for a mild muscle relaxant to unclench the bowel and get things moving. This will make all the difference if the other steps are not enough.

    Best of luck to him!

He is allergic to gluten which is found in wheat and wheat by products and some other things

Have him do two th ings avoid wheat absolutely. No wheat and then he should keep a diary of everything he eats and when he has diareah or other symptoms nd keep keeping that diary for months. Then if you look at it you will find a cause effect and find out what other things he is allergic to.

    How do we get diareah?

The skin of your body has something in it called histamines. When we get a cold this releases histamines which make the nose run.
    DO you understand?
IF you take your finger nail and scratch on the skin of the back of your hand gently foir a short while or on your arm that area where you scratched gently will start to itch.

This is becasue histamines have been released. Histamines are the way GOd has allowed us to know some thing is wrong some where in our body.
If a bug bites you it is the histamines that are released that make it itch and draw your intentino to that area.

Inside you body the intestines are actually a piece of skin. And when you eat somethign that you r body thinks is not good for you and it gets in your stomach and intestines hen it can cause histamines to ceom out of the skin. I understand this is why we get loose bowels ( Diareah) You get a runny mnose becasue your body is trying to void it self ( get rid of ) stff in your head cavaties. YOu get diareah to make your body flush out of your intestines what you r body thinks is bad for you. Do you understand?

For waht ever reason he is alergic to the gluten in the wheat which is a paste or sugar ) It makes trouble and your body says lets get rid of this mess.

Stop eationg bread made from wheat. If you can afford it you can find breads made from spelt. And YOu should all eat gluten fre tomake it easier for him.

And he should absolutly avoid wheat for at least five months not even a trace of it. SO beware. then keep the diary. Then you wil see he has much less trouble and if you track his eating and torubles you cin find other things he might be allergic to.

Oatys have a little gluten but most perosns who are allergic to gluten are able to eat oats.

Spelt and Buckwheat and Brown Rice and Corn and millet and flax ussually are all considered gluten free. Be careful though many companies charge an arm and a leg for these things.

The fact is that probably we are all allergic to wheat. It may be a great cause of being over weight or underwieght and many other problems may be attached to it especially if you eat the processed wheat that has had the natural nutrients remonved and then had vitamins added.
