I have heard many claims about heavy metals and other toxins being found in laboratory "sweat analysis" — from the sweat produced by infrared saunas. I have looked for the actual (original) studies/lab reports that are being vaguely referred to, but cannot find any. Does anyone know what these sources are, and if they are true? Can infrared saunas detoxify heavy metals, and if so, what are the sources that prove it?

To clarify, I'm not interested in the unreferenced mention of studies (as almost all the infrared sauna manufacturers do: "Scientific studies have shown…" etc. Which ones??). I'm looking for the actual studies themselves. Thanks.

Hi David R, yes Infrared Saunas for detoxification is very Effective.
The Infrared sauna offers cutting edge low heat technology to help you comfortably sweat your toxins away while at the same time allowing deep penetration of joints, muscles, tissues, and increased oxygen and blood circulation. The infrared sauna works by detoxifying the body and actually ridding it of pollutants like aluminum, cadmium, lead and even formaldehyde and other dangerous chemicals.

The secret to infrared saunas lies in their lower temperature infrared heat waves emitted, which due to their longer wavelength have the ability to penetrate deeper into the body’s tissue. Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Infrared_Saunas/

I don't really understand how things such as heroin detox work. I just got curious because I got wind of the news that an acquaintance of mine is considering undergoing this.

detoxification is a part of an effective addiction treatment or rehabilitation program. Heroin detoxification is comprised of three stages. The first stage is referred to as the medical stage. This is the stage wherein the body is being cleared of traces of narcotics. Then, the person will udnergo physical detoxification. This is when nutritionists and diet specialist will design a diet specifically for the patient in order for him to gain back his body's healthy state. The last stage is emotional detoxification, a phase in which a sense of independence from the drug is inculcated upon the individual.

I want my son to go to a rehab but am quite hesitant because of the detoxification process. I'm afraid that my son will suffer so much. Can you please enlighten me on this subject?

There's no need to worry. Remember that your son will not fully recover if he will not undergo detoxification. It is the first step in any kind of rehabilitation. All the toxins that he has consumed must be flushed out from his body. This is also called as the withdrawal stage. Just support him as he goes through the recovery process and everything will be fine. Access the links that I included below for more information about detoxification.
