I have bad constipation and I’ve been using ducolax pills to cure my problem. I used them four days in a row and now I’ve become immune to them. I tried curing it naturally but it was making it worse after 2weeks. What should I do to cure my constipation? Also does citrucel work better than ducolax and should I used that instead if I should cure it with pills?

There are many home remedies and natural treatment to cure bad constipation such as these:

Home remedies
- Eat a medium-sized pear after dinner or with breakfast.

- Drink a glass of hot water with sour lime juice and half a teaspoon of salt.

- Swallow a teaspoon of linseed with water before each meal.

- Eat a slide of raw papaya early in the morning.

- Take 3 small beets, scrub them, clean and eat them raw in the morning.

Natural treatment
Change diet.
It is important to increase the amount of fiber in the diet with raw fruits and vegetables, brown wild rice, flaxseeds, bran and whole grain cereals.

What is constipation exactly, ways to help it?

I was wondering, is constipation when you feel like you have to go but it wont come out, or if you just don't feel like you have to go at all?

Can be both. Constipation occurs when the colon absorbs too much water or if the colon’s muscle contractions are slow or sluggish, causing the stool to move through the colon too slowly. As a result, stools can become hard and dry.

Treatments:
More Dietary fiber in your diet (like metamusil supplement)
Proper exercise and diet (including fresh fruits and veggies!)
Laxatives, enemas, suppositories if it gets too bad and you need a little 'help'

What is it about prunes that helps with constipation?

Is it just the fiber or is there something else in them that helps with constipation?

Prunes are just one of the "high-fiber foods" – Fiber makes the stool softer and easier to pass. Certain foods are wonderful, natural agents for regulating bowel movements and keeping the colon clear of harmful bacteria. Prunes are one example of this. Generations of people have used prunes to reverse the effects of constipation. Apple, pear, and cranberry juices all can help move things along and the acidity in these juices also helps balance the bacteria that are found normally in our bodies, particularly in the lower intestines and colon.

I have always heard that wheat produces lot of heat hence should be avoided during summer coz it may aggravate piles , constipation etc But its also mentioned that Whole wheat has lot of fiber and hence is good for constipation. How come?

The health benefits of wheat depend entirely on the form in which you eat it. If you select 100% whole wheat products, however, the bran and the germ of the wheat will remain in your meals, and the health benefits will be impressive! Our food ranking qualified whole wheat (in its original non-enriched form) as a very good source of dietary fiber and manganese, and as a good source of magnesium.

The many benefits of whole wheat products are being recognized more and more by consumers.

Women Who Eat Whole Grains Weigh Less
Whole Grains Reduce Risk of Metabolic Syndrome
Whole Grains Substantially Lower Type 2 Diabetes Risk
Whole Wheat's Betaine Lessens Chronic Inflammation
Whole Grains Help Prevent Gallstones
Whole Wheat Gets You Going
Whole Wheat Promotes Women's Health and Gastrointestinal Health
Cereal and Fruit Fiber Protective against Postmenopausal Breast Cancer
There are number of other benefits too.
Here what type of heat ,do you mean ? In short it does not cause any adverse heat, but do produces heat to maintain basic functions of life .
And what is means by How come?.

I took an exam for depression at the doctor and one question asked about constipation. I was just wondering what does this have to do with depression?

You don't feel better after dropping the kids off at the pool? I always feel my best when I make a mud monkey that I can be proud of. Hell, even talking about it has me smiling…

This question may sound so hard to be answered or may sound so awkward because it seems to me that many people say that high fiber foods are one of the ways for you to avoid constipation but it possible for someone to avoid that even if he/she does not consume that much fiber but on a balanced routine?

Constipation is the only culprit of all ur body ailments remember…….to avoid constipation stick to vegeterian food..drink plenty of water, eat green salads and of course fibre rich diet avoid tension,anxiety..and takea good nice sleep and have a nice 1 hour walk daily……bye kanwaljeet

How much baby prune/apple juice for constipation?

My son has occasional constipation now that we have him on formula. Can anyone tell me how much prune/apple juice they have given their children to help them go? 1oz? Diluted with any water? I bought the Heinz baby brand. I am more comfortable giving my son juice rather than sugar water.

I depends upon how old he is, and how is body reacts to it. If he has never had juice before, you would want to water it down, 1/2 juice, 1/2 H2O. You need to experiment, to see how much he needs to produce a bowel movement. I would start at 2 oz. (1 H2O, 1 juice), and work up to 4 oz. (2 + 2).
If that doesn't work, you should talk to your doctor about other options, such as changing formula.

How to get rid of a bloated belly caused by constipation?

I've been having this problem the last few days, and need help badly …I suffer from constipation, and a few days ago my belly started to get bloated, and I dunno what to do. I've been eating lots of fiber to try to stop the constipation but its no use.
Should I try a laxative? will this end the whole bloated belly thing? It makes me look about a few pounds heavier, Help?

Thanks !

It sounds like you have been constipated for several days. I think eating fruit and taking some stool softeners may help, if not by all means take a gentle laxative because you are filling up with gas and you need to relieve all that pressure and contents of your colon. Also drink plenty of liquids maybe prune juice which is a natural laxative.
