what is a good at home treatment for a colon cleanse?

by admin ·

I have heard to help lose weight one should do a colon cleanse to get rid of toxins. I just want to know what I can do with out spending lots of money.

I love questions like this. There are hundreds of books out there that say something like “death begins in the colon” and “cleanse the toxins” and other rubbish.

While there is truth to poor diets causing ill health (Americans eat a lot of fat and have a very high incidence of colon cancer), there’s a lot of myths too.

Fiber is the key. Instead of looking for miracle cures, adapt a healthy lifestyle. Eat whole-fiber, low fat foods and read labels. (While you’re at it, cut down on the salt too). Just reaching the FDA’s recommended allowance of fiber daily can be a challenge. (No more fast food!) Also, drink plenty of water. You can’t flush out the bad if it’s stuck like a rock inside of you. (Constipation hurts). Finally, exercise. Along with all the other health benefits (and burning calories, duh) regular exercise will promote peristalsis (the regular movement of stuff through your insides).

Seriously though, it takes some work to keep yourself healthy. Keep at it. And please stay away from people who are going to shove stuff where it doesn’t belong and “flush you out”. That’s really not good for you. Also, stay away from laxatives unless your doctor suggests it. They can have very bad side effects.

Just eat right and exercise.

Footnote: Enemas and Go-Lytly are not good! You can severely imbalance your sodium and postassium levels! (read: heart failure) Don’t stick things up there unless a doctor (a real doctor) tells you to!

Does the Acai berry supplement and colon cleanse thing really work?

I have heard the Acai berry and Colon cleanse “diet” works really well. I am iffy on taking these supplements – do they work? what kind of effects will it have? If I take this am I going to be in the bathroom all day and night?

When I was interested in this, I read the reviews on Amazon.com (that’s where I was buying it from since I didn’t want to give my debit information to some site I didn’t trust).

Basically, what I got from that was that the acai berry supplement energizes *some* people, but doesn’t really contribute to weight loss at all.

The people who were pleased with the Colon Cleanse were using it to become regular and not to lose weight. Some people said that they had lost a few pounds from removing all the waste that had built up in their intestines. Generally, the people who were trying the acai/colon cleanse combination did not lose weight, or did not lose enough weight to be satisfied.

If you read the directions, you have to adjust the number of pills you take so that you are having 2-3 bowel movements per day.

Side effects include cramping, bloating, and diarrhea.

How do you do a colon cleanse?

I want to do a colon cleanse without taking any pills. Do I only drink liquids?

Are there certain foods like fruits I can eat?

How long do you stay on it and what effects does it have on you?

You didn’t say how old you are. Doing a colon cleanse is a good thing but the rules have to be followed for you to do it in a healthy manner. There is a tea that you can get from your health food store. It is a TEA NOT a SYSTEM. Follow the directions. Also try drinking more water to keep hydrated. Try more salads and fruits. Stay away from junk, you konw the junk I’m talking about! The teenage junk food!

Need advise on an effective colon cleanse thats safe and cheap?

Im constantly bloated latley, stressed out, not going everyday. I think I need a good colon cleanse, and something to remove the waste weight.

Any sugguestions on products or foods.. I am on a tight budget.

Thanks!

If all you think you need is to take a good poop, then eat a lot of natural natural fiber in the form of raw vegetables.

Now, if you think need a colon cleanse, then you need to go to the doctor and get a colonic. “Safe” and “Cheap” are two terms that do not go together when discussing medical procedures. Also, no magic food or drink is going to roto-rooter your bowels.

How do I ask my doctor for a colon cleanse?

I’m 19 (but I’ll be 20 this February) and I want to ask my doctor for a colon cleanse. I’m afraid that she will just give me an automatic “No.” because she might think I’m too young to get one, but I think I could really benefit from one right now. I am female, and I’m 5 feet and I weigh 178 pounds.

You just need to ask your doctor about getting one and she will either say yes or give you a referral to someone who will be able to do it (because she may not perform this in her office) You are old enough to get one also some Spa’s actually offer this to.. You can search on the internet for your location and see what you find =)

What is the best colon cleanse, and are they safe?

Hello, I have been wanting to try a colon cleanse. I need someone who knows or who has used one to tell me a few things:
is it ok to use one at my age of 15,
will it be painful,
will I be spending the majority of my days on the toilet,
are they safe,
and which one would you personally recommend?
I don’t want to get in over my head here.

Before you do a colon cleanse, make sure it is o.k. with your parents. It is not painful and is safe. If you go to your local health store and ask for an all natural colon cleanse, they can help you. Wait after you have eaten dinner for at least two hours before you take a pill. It is not like a laxative. If you don’t have a health store close, you can go to this site a friend gave me.

How many lbs do you loose when you colon cleanse?

I am doing a colon cleanse before i start a fairly large diet [at least 50 lbs by august!] and i was wondering what the colon does and how many pounds on average that you might loose. thanks!

Yes – you can lose weight with a colon cleanse!

The colon is part of your digestive system – it’s main function is to absorb the vitamins and nutrients from the food you eat, and to pass the waste on to… the end of the line. lol!

The problem is that our digestive system isn’t set up to process a lot of the foods we eat – like meat products, processed foods and some dairy. Little bits can get left behind in the colon and, over time, these can really add up, leading to weight gain, gas, bloating and even more serious conditions like diverticulitis.

This is where colon cleanse products come in – they help to remove all this built up gunk and replace the natural bacteria that grow in your colon. When all the stuff comes out, it makes sense that you lose weight.

Personally, I lost about 43 pounds using colon cleanse products along with another supplement. To read my story, click on the link below:

Would a shiatsu massage belt help relieve me of my trapped wind and constipation?

I suffer with really bad trapped wind and constipation. When I rub and squeeze my belly for a long time, wind eventually passes. Would wearing a shiatsu massage belt on a regular basis relieve my wind and constipation?

No one will really know. You should change your diet and stop eating sugar, gluten and dairy.

How can I do a cheap colon cleanse?

I want to do a colon cleanse, but the stuff on the market is way out of my budget. If I just do some psyllium capsules and some pro-biotics (like acidophilus), will that work just as well as the expensive stuff like Evercleanse?

Forget the colon cleanse. Your colon is clean. Detox is an alt med scam and can be dangerous.

TV show, “What’s Good For You” recently tested detox products.

Results:

Weight loss. One member of the detox group dropped out on day four as she was experiencing dizziness, headaches and nausea. In this time she lost almost 3kgs. The two other members of the detox group lasted the week — and lost 2.5kg and 4kg each. Our expert, Associate Professor Katherine Samaras of the Garvan Institute, believes the weight loss will be put straight back on. Plus the diet may have also altered the detoxers’ metabolisms making it more difficult for them to lose weight in the future.

Blood tests. The blood tests showed decreased liver function in all members of the detox group. Their livers were shocked by the strict diet and weren’t functioning very well. The blood tests also showed an increase in triglycerides (the bad blood fats that predict our risk to heart disease) and a decrease in the protective cholesterol.

Conclusion
Within our group of six people the liquid detox diet did not help the body eliminate toxins. In fact, the diet did them more harm than good! The body is fantastically designed to eliminate by-products without needing any assistance at all. If you have overindulged Professor Samaras recommends a light healthy diet for one or two days to let your body recover.

From Skepdic.com:
It’s an irrational concept, yet an intriguing idea, that modern life so fills us with poisons from polluted air and food additives that we need to be periodically “cleaned out” (“detoxified”). Never mind that natural chemicals in our foods are thousands of times more potent than additives, or that most Americans are healthier, live longer, and can choose from the most healthful food supply ever available. — Frances M. Berg, M.S.

Real detoxification of foreign substances takes place in the liver, which modifies their chemical structure so they can be excreted by the kidneys which filter them from the blood into the urine. –Stephen Barrett, M.D.

“Toxin” is classic pseudoscience terminology. –Ben Goldacre, M.D.

“…these detox programs amount to a large quantity of excrement, both literally and figuratively.” –Peter Pressman, M.D.

What casues constipation and how can prevent it?

I have had it for a while now and im also vegeterian but I had it before that, what causes constipation? and what are some easy ways to get rid of it without going to the docter?

Gluten intolerance can cause constipation. If you’re a vegetarian, you likely eat a lot of bread and pasta to make up for your meat. If you have other health problems or symptoms or if your constipation gets to a point where it’s really bothersome, you could try a gluten free diet to see if it’s causing your problems.

Another thing I’ve found to really help with constipation is green smoothies. There are lots of websites dedicated to green smoothie recipes but my favorite is 1 apple, a handful of fresh spinach, and another type of fruit, like berries or a pear. Add a cup of water and some ice and blend in the blender for a few minutes. You can’t taste the spinach, it just tastes like fruit, but the fiber from the fruits cleans you right out. I started drinking them a couple months ago and I haven’t had constipation since. The theory behind the smoothies is that the nutrients in the spinach are much more available when they’re ground because our teeth can’t grind them enough to get all the nutrients. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it’s really effective for constipation and all the fiber really lowers your appetite. It’s great for dieting. Let me know if you need any more suggestions!
